Class on 11/21

Yesterday's class, we still focused on the movie " Slum Dog Millionaire". This is a great movie, the main character Jamal is a boy which has no parents, but fortunately, he has a friend, who helped him a lot and solved a lot of troubles together. They have sent to a place which they thought can learn dance and sing there. However, this place just injure the kids as beggars to make money, these two kids notice that and flee there, they have a lot of experiences that can help Jamal to answer the questions and finally, he won the whole money of the TV show.

Today's class, we focused on the movie, this movie is talking about a low educated boy's experience. He attempted a famous TV program. On this program, the host will ask you some difficult questions, you have three chances to ask for help, such as 50:50; ask the viewers; and make a phone call, finally, he got all right, this is amazing because a lot of doctors, and high educated people cannot even get all right. So the polices there think that he is cheating, but actually, he has a lot of experiences of these questions. In my opinion, Mr. Schick shares this movie to us in order to help us to understand cultural characteristic better. And this is really good. 

Class on 11/19

Today's class, I went through my first formal swimming meeting with another school's swimming team. This game is really cool, although we cannot say that we won the game, but everyone tried their best and they are all the best one in my eyes, I will also try to practice harder and get the better result next time.

Today's class, we talked about the Cultural Characteristic. Cultural Characteristic are parts of a groups everyday life. They are the ideas and themes which the group will teach to all members. These same characteristics can also link or divide a region. And we also learned the map about soft drinks in each of the counties of the United States as an example, this helped us to understand cultural characteristics better. There are also some examples of cultural characteristic, there would be language, religion and ethnic heritage.

Today's class, we took a big test, which valued 100 scores, it is really important for me, because last time, I didn't get a high grade on Human Geography, from now on, I will work harder and try my best to make all my class above 90, I will try my best to achieve that.

Today's class, we just focus on the review of the test tomorrow, and tonight, I study for the test tomorrow with John and Ryan till 11 o'clock. I hope that I can get a great score tomorrow. By the way, the information about twelve countries are really confused me, it's so difficult to remember all of them clearly in one night, but I will still try my best tomorrow.

Today's class, we finished all presentations. The last three countries are Israel, Mexico and Brazil. 
First of all, Israel, Parliamentary Democracy, President: Binyamin Netanyahu(nickname: BB).  7 year term, one term is maximum, president is elected by the Knesset.Israelis the home for Jews.
And secondly, Mexico, it is Federal government, it has a federal republic government since 1823 and the term of president is six year, one term is maximum. An interesting fact about Mexico is that teachers in Mexico are trying to shut down the government because Mexico has the ineffective educational system.
Finally, Brazil, it is Federal republic, and the term of president is 4 year, but they can re-elected two times in a row.  Most of people in Brazil are happy about their president and the government. That is a good news.

Yesterday's class we talked about China and Russia. There are some facts about Russia that is:

people in Russia have two groups, one is really like Put in and another one os really hate him. That is a big difference between Russia and other countries. And about China, because I'm Chinese, so I know some interesting events about China such as the Tiananmen Square's protest and the interesting facts about the president of China, Xi Jinping and even his wife. Maybe next week, I will do my presentation with David.

Today's class, we talked about Germany and Japan. Germany is a federal republic, which means the president has the majority power of this country. And Japan, to be honest, I don't like this country as others, maybe because of the history or something else. Some facts about Japan: Japan's president has no limits on time. Which means they can stay on the seat until they don't want anymore. That's interesting. Tomorrow, is the last day of the week, I still need to prepare for the presentation.

Today's class we had two groups to volunteer to present first, their presentation is really great, I also learnt a lot from their slides. Such as France has five republic, this country is federal republic, and was an empire before 1958(maybe is 1948, I cannot remember that because I forget to bring my notebook back). And United  Kingdom has a Queen. This is an important information and the biggest different from other countries. I hope that tomorrow's presentation can be better.

Today's class, we did the last change on our slides about the specific country which we have chosen before. And tomorrow, we will have our presentation on class, I need to search more information about Syria and prepare for the presentation tomorrow. I will try my best to assist David to explain about what happened in Syria and try to get a higher score.
